OVERVIEW OF ARTS CENTRE
Our Arts Centre
Bribie Island Art Centre is set adjacent to native National Park Reserve in an area of natural bushland with rain forest species nearby, at Banksia Beach, Bribie Island. This has created a serene and inspirational environment for both those who visit and those who work here. Bribie Island Arts Centre is a major tourist attraction for Bribie Island, welcoming over 40,000 visitors every year. Bus tour groups always welcome – please book.
The art centre has become the artistic hub of this Bribie Island community with an interesting history. It has four working studios used by potters, painters, crafters and many other groups throughout the week. We also have woodcrafters workshops and gem/silversmithing workshops set in the grounds. Come and see our artists and crafts people working, join a club or group yourself - develop your artistic talent and meet new friends – new members are always very welcome.
The Matthew Flinders Art Gallery hosts superb exhibitions throughout the year exhibiting art and craft which include – paint, clay, textile, photography, wood and others. The gallery is also used for regular music performances set amid artworks on current show.
Open six days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, the Bribie Island Art Centre is staffed by a willing band of volunteers who are always on hand to assist. Our display galleries are filled with unique handcrafted gifts available for purchase, all created by our members.
On the fourth Sunday of every month, in the bushland setting of the gardens, we hold the Bribie Island Art and Craft Fair. Large numbers of visitors soak up the atmosphere whilst browsing the stalls filled with locally made delights. Enjoy the talents of local musicians or displays while relaxing with a coffee or Devonshire tea in the gardens.
Come and visit this wonderful facility on beautiful Bribie Island.
