Bribie and District Woodcrafters Association Incorporated

The Association, which is incorporated under the Association Incorporation Act 1981, came into existence on 4th October 1996.

Management committee

This committee is charged with the general management of the association in accordance with the rules and by-laws approved for the purpose of the incorporation. Management Committee meetings are held monthly on the third Tuesday. The present Committee comprises:

Workshops - Demonstrations

Training sessions for members are held regularly during the year in all aspects of woodworking. Volunteers are called to help on Craft Fair open day, the fourth Sunday of each month 8.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m., and demonstrations with other Arts and Craft Fair from time to time.

Adult 18 yrs plus (per annum) $40.00
Junior 12 - 17 yrs (per annum) $12.00
Associate (per annum) $10.00
New membership
Joining Fee (incl. name badge) $ 5.00
Adult 18 yrs plus (pro-rata at $3.50/month) $40.00
Junior 12 - 17 yrs (pro-rata at $1/month) $12.00
Associate (no pro-rata) $10.00
Fees could be subject to change by vote at the next Annual General Meeting

Meetings

Information / Social meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday each month, 9.00 a.m.-12.00 p.m.

General Meetings are held on Second Tuesday of every second month (March, May, July, September, November)

Socials and functions

Are regularly organised where club members and family can meet for barbecues, dinners and outings to other woodworking groups and woodworking shows.

Club goals

To foster and promote an active interest in all matters relating to the history, development and artistic expertise of working in wood with interested citizens within the Bribie District. To raise funds for club activities and for the improvement of the association. Where agreed, raise funds for charitable organisations, research, and community projects, which will further the standing of the association in the community.

Exhibition and competition

Each year the Bribie and District Woodcrafters hold its annual competition and exhibition in the Matthew Flinders Gallery. 2009 Exhibition starts 13th to 25th October, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (closed Monday 19th)
Workshop and Meeting schedule

  • Informal Information / Social Meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday morning of the month at 9am
  • General Meetings are held on Second Tuesday of every second month (March, May, July, September, November)
  • Working bees are held every Monday morning from around 7:30 to midday
  • Power Carving Workshop is held every Monday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm
  • Marquetry and Pyrography Workshops are held every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm
  • Carving Workshops are held Wednesday morning 9am to midday
  • General Workshop and working bees are held every Thursday morning from around 7:30 to midday
  • Craft Sales are held every 4th Sunday of the month in conjunction with the Art and Craft Fair at the Art Centre followed with a BBQ lunch for members as a small fee.



Tuition

Tuition is generally provided free of charge to members in areas of woodturning, carving, scrollwork, pyrography, marquetry, finishing techniques and many other aspects of woodcraft. A small fee is applicable for each workshop session, payable on the day, to help pay for equipment maintenance and the use of club resources.

For classes, a small fee each week is applicable, plus a charge for timber, parts used and manuals, payable in advance of the course start date.
