Porcelain Dolls
Formed about 10 years ago as a group of people wanting to make porcelain
dolls as a hobby.
Learning doll making process
Step 1: The greenware is cleaned and fired, which shrinks it by about one
third. (We can pour some of our greenware using moulds that we have
available for use by members of the group)
Step2: It is then cleaned again to make it very smooth before an overall
blush is done, then it is fired again
Step3: You can start painting the lips, eyebrows, lashes, cheek blush, and
if needed, hair can be painted on. Wigs and eyes can be obtained from
distributors. It is helpful if you can sew to clothe the dolls.
The Art Centre provides a kiln for use by members.
It is a fascinating, enjoyable hobby, which produces lovely dolls for
gifts or to keep.
