Karol is a professional Australian Artist living in South East Queensland, and is known for a strong representational style of painting; with water a recurring theme amongst her favourite subjects to paint. She also paints landscapes, portraits and still life with as much attention to detail, whilst retaining that painterly realist style for which Karol’s work is recognised. It is the medium of pastel that remains her first love and the medium from which her many awards have been won.
She was awarded a painting scholarship from the Pastel Society of America in 2010. A sought after tutor, Karol travels frequently teaching pastel painting to art groups through out the state and overseas with painting tours to the Greek Islands and Norfolk Island. She also tutors at McGregor Summer School in Toowoomba
Queensland.
Painting in pastels for over 20 years Karol Oakley has featured in Australian Artist Magazine (November 2009) and won the Seascape challenge in 2007. Karol has won many awards for her vibrant realist style pastel paintings. Water and the natural environment are her favourite themes to paint. She is best known for her dynamic seascapes and landscapes and enjoys painting in the great outdoors.
Karol is a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and a Master Pastellist. She travels tutoring pastel painting in Queensland and the Greek Islands. Karol shares her pastel knowledge in the most easy to understand way, working with each student at their own level and offers lots of encouragement and practical advice on the way.
A multi award winning artist, Karol has paintings held in public and private collections in Australia and over seas. She has been part of twelve exhibitions over the last twenty years. The first exhibition was as part of the newly formed Caloundra Regional Art Gallery’s opening exhibition entitled Mentors. There have been articles written about Karol’s paintings in publications which include, Australian Artist Magazine, Pastel Artist International, Expressions Magazine and the Pastel Society of Australia Newsletter.
The last exhibition of Karol’s paintings was at Wondai Regional Art Gallery in September 2011. Her paintings can be viewed all year at the following galleries: Caloundra Fine Art and Framing Gallery, Landsborough Galleries Landsborough, Nimue Art at Kingaroy and Gallery Beneath at Mooloolaba

Certificate 1V Assessment and Workplace Training
Karol will be holding one workshop during the festival.

This course is about utilising pastel painting techniques for the best results.
Subjects include landscape, rivers, still/life and step by step instructions, critiques and individual attention.
