Des Cooper

Des CooperDes is a Navy veteran, 68 year old and is a member of the Bribie and District Woodcrafters Association for 12 years and has participated in Power Carving, Marquetry, Pyrography and Scroll Sawing.

Des has won awards in all these categories and claimed the 2011 Winner of the Trevor Peters Award for Excellence for “On the Prowl” fretwork portrait of a Cheetah.

Des started advanced Scroll Sawing 6 years ago and has been awarded a number of prizes in the Advanced category.

Des regularly demonstrates Scroll Sawing at the monthly Art and Craft Fair at the Art Centre.

Des will be holding one workshop during the festival.

DESCRIPTION

Learn to handle the machine, to cut thick and thin pieces and to handle various types of wood. You will also learn the technique of how to turn and curve samples.

TIME AND PLACE:

Studio W8, Community Arts Centre.
